Types of Visas Required to Enter Australia

Student Visa: If you are a student and looking for an opportunity to study in a reputed Australian university, you are eligible to stay, study, and work part-time in the country with the help of this visa. To get this visa, you need to enrol in a recognised course for at least 12 weeks. The benefit of this visa type is that there is no age limit for the applicant, even though you are a student, your partner can accompany you, and he/she can work part-time in Australia.

Work and Holiday Visa: This visa category is the most popular amongst individuals who wish to relocate to Australia, as it allows you to work and study simultaneously for a year. There are certain requirements that you have to fulfil to get this visa, such as an age between 18 and 30 years, a return ticket from your native country, no accompanied couple or children, and a functional level of English.

Tourist Visa: If you want to spend a vacation or a short seasonal holiday in Australia, then you must have a tourist visa with you. There are two types of such visas:

  • Visa eVisitor (Subclass 651) - It is free and permits you to roam in the country for a maximum period of 3 months.
  • Tourist Visa Visitor (Subclass 600) - This costs you between 140 AUD and 1020 AUD. Furthermore, it allows you to stay in the country for a maximum period of 12 months.

Couple/Spouse Visa: The visa type permits you to move to Australia along with your spouse to study and work legally in the nation. It is an ideal option for the formal couples, but the conditions do not hold the same for both members. At the time of applying for this visa, you must be in the country.

Temporary Graduate Visa: It is a work visa, specifically issued to international students who have completed 2 years of their studies related to the requested jobs in Australia. It lasts from 18 months to 4 years according to the plan of study. If you are the one who wants to start a career in this country, then you must go ahead to grab this visa.

Sponsorship Visa: It is again a kind of Work Visa granted to the worker who shows interest in working under a verified company. Additionally, he/she must be able to justify to the Australian government why, being an outsider, they should be hired. The duration of this visa is 3-4 years.

Skilled Visa: The visa is only for skilled workers who are in demand for any reputed profession by the Australian Government. In order to obtain this visa, you should send your documents for verification to the Australian government for professional validation.

Copy of Passport

A passport, being the most important document while moving to another country, should be available. Complete Australian Customs Form (B534)

This document comes under the category of “Unaccompanied Personal Effects”, i.e., household or personal goods that are imported to Australia through air, sea cargo, or international mail (post). It typically includes- furniture, appliances, clothing, footwear, sporting equipment, books, personal hygiene, and grooming items. Before packing and transporting your items to Australia, you must fill out this Custom Clearance Form to be cleared for paying customs duty, GST, other taxes, and charges.

Shipment Inventory

The document is particularly divided into two categories. First, if you want to move your commercial products or retail orders, then a shipping inventory list is required to maintain the workflow balance. It contains information of every product along with the prices. Second; accurate list of packing household goods must be carried by the individual who is moving to Australia for study or work. Both the lists should be devoid of such belongings that are prohibited from being carried otherwise; you have to pay the heavy penalty and punishment for the same.

Alcohol Inventory (if Applicable)
